Italy vs. Austria Predictions

Italy look trustworthy here. Austria are a reasonably organised side, but they will struggle to take the ball off the Italians, who can rely on three excellent technical midfielders.

Even if Giorgio Chiellini is still out with injury Francesco Acerbi or Alessandro Bastoni are highly capable replacements.

Austria struggled to trouble the Dutch defence, and bookmakers rate Italy as a significantly better team than the Netherlands.

Italy to win to nil is my bet here, and Immobile looks fair enough to score the first goal at +300.

Italy Betting Outlook

Italy were the best side during the competition’s group stages.

They became the first side ever to win all three group games without conceding a goal, beating Turkey and Swtizerland 3-0 and then getting past Wales 1-0 with a heavily rotated team. The ability to make so many changes could be a crucial factor here given the crowded nature of international tournaments.

Everything about Italy’s play has been good. The defence has been totally untroubled; the midfield has dominated the tempo in every game, and the attack has looked varied and exciting.

Ciro Immobile, who has often looked poor at the highest level, has scored twice, as has midfielder Manuel Locatelli.

Austria Betting Outlook

Austria put in comfortably their best performance at the competition as they won their crunch match with Ukraine 1-0. It was a game they needed to win to guarantee qualification, and it was also a match they were underdogs for.

But they won the shot count 18-5 and should have won by more. They put North Macedonia to the sword 3-1 in their first game, but their meek 2-0 loss away to the Netherlands does not bode well for this tie.

Their goals have been shared among four different players.
