The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that Falcons quarterback D.J. Shockley is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The University of Georgia product went down in Friday's 13-10 win at Buffalo.
Shockley was in a battle with Chris Redman for the No. 2 QB job behind Joey Harrington, who inherited his status in the wake of the dogfighting debacle brought on by you know who.
Shockley, who was entering his second season, was a seventh-round draft pick in 2006.
According the the AJC, the Falcons are in discussions with the Eagles to acquire Kelly Holcomb for a late-round draft pick.
Harrington was signed to a two-year, $6 million contract during the off-season He replaced Matt Schaub as the back-up before the starting job fell in his lap.
