2025 World Series Odds
Tigers Creep Up On Dodgers

UPDATE FRIDAY, JUNE 27: When World Series odds first hit the board in October, the Detroit Tigers were middle-of-the-pack at BetMGM. Detroit opened +4000, after advancing to the AL Divisional Series last season.
Fast-forward to the brink of July, and the Tigers are tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the best record in the majors, at 51-31. Correspondingly, BetMGM has Detroit into the +700 co-second choice in 2025 World Series odds, joined by the New York Yankees.
The Dodgers are a tidy +240 favorite, matching their Opening Day odds back in March and shorter than their October opening price of +400.
"In the past month, the Tigers are the most-bet team, with the Dodgers third in terms of tickets. In that same period, the Dodgers are the most-bet team in terms of money, and the Tigers are the third," BetMGM trader Hal Egeland said.
Even with the Tigers having some relatively longer odds preseason, a Detroit championship isn't a terrible outcome for BetMGM.
"The Tigers would be a relatively small loser for us currently. There’s a handful of five-figure winners, should the Tigers win it all, and a majority of those would be from our Michigan customers," Egeland said.
As for L.A.:
"We likely won’t be cheering for the Dodgers come October. But the liability hasn’t grown since the beginning of the season," Egeland said. "They’re still getting bet, but with the price so short, the liability is going toward some other teams with bigger odds."
Needs and Liabilities

UPDATE FRIDAY, JUNE 27: As noted above, the Yankees (46-34) are the +700 co-second choice with the Tigers in BetMGM's odds to win the 2025 World Series. New York has hit a dry spell of late, going 4-9 in its last 13 games, a stretch that began with six consecutive losses.
Still, oddsmakers believe in the defending AL champion's ability to get to the Fall Classic again. So, too, do bettors, although at this point, BetMGM wouldn't mind a Pinstripes championship.
"The Yankees are our fifth-most-bet team, in terms of both tickets and money. But they remain a good outcome for us," Egeland said. "Action has slowed a little bit on them during their tough stretch, but they’re still top 10 for us during that span, in terms of tickets and money."
For the season, BetMGM's top three in tickets for World Series odds are:
- Dodgers
- Philadelphia Phillies
- Tigers
The top three in money:
- Dodgers
- Phillies
- New York Mets
Philadelphia (47-34) is the +900 fourth choice, followed by the Mets (48-34) at +1100.
So which teams bode well and which bode poorly for BetMGM?
"Among realistic options, we’d love the Rays, Astros, Brewers or Yankees to win it all. The Braves would be nice, too, should they turn things around," Egeland said. "We’d love to avoid the Dodgers, Giants, Padres and Tigers."
Houston (48-33) is the +1200 sixth choice. Tampa Bay (46-35) is 2500 and Milwaukee (45-36) +4000. At 37-43 through June 26, Atlanta has some work to do, but sits at +3500 in World Series odds. San Francisco (44-37) is +2500, and San Diego (44-36) is +3500.
Egeland sees Tampa Bay as a bit of a dark horse.
"I would certainly say the Rays are under the radar," he said. "They’ve been playing very well, but they’re a tough team to project, with their offense seemingly overachieving.
"The other team I would consider is the Texas Rangers. Their pitching has been phenomenal, and their offense should be much better than what they’ve shown this year."
Texas (40-41) is +5000 at the moment.

World Series Odds
The MLB World Series takes place in late October and is often referred to as the Fall Classic. World Series futures odds for each season are made shortly after the conclusion of the previous season, and sometimes even sooner.
Since the MLB regular season is the longest of the four major sports, bookmakers don’t make one team a decisive favorite over another prior to the season. You’ll usually see three to four teams have World Series Odds of +1000 or less.
The majority of the MLB teams will have future odds between +2000 and +1000. Unfortunately for some fans, there are teams with World Series odds listed as long as 2000/1 to win the event.
How Do I Bet On The World Series?
It’s very simple to bet on the World Series, since the MLB futures odds market is always open for business. To figure out your Win Amount, a bettor would take the betting odds offered on a team and multiply by the amount wagered.
For example: The Yankees are +700 (7/1) to win the World Series. A $100 wager would profit $700, for a total payout of $800.
