LATEST UPDATE: The Los Angeles Dodgers entered the 2026 season as a strong favorite in BetMGM's World Series odds. Los Angeles won the last two championships, taking the 2025 crown by winning Games 6 and 7 on the road vs. the Toronto Blue Jays.

At that point, the Dodgers were +350 to in odds to win the 2026 World Series. Fast-forward to March 25 and Opening Day, and Dodger Blue was even stronger chalk at +225.

Now, on June 5, with the majors' second-best record at 40-23, the Dodgers are into the +190 favorite. And the short price isn't deterring bettors.

The Dodgers are No. 1 in tickets, slightly ahead of the New York Yankees (35-23), who are now the +500 second choice. And L.A. is lapping the field in money, drawing 23.2% of dollars in BetMGM World Series futures odds, almost three times more than the Yanks.

"The Dodgers are a relatively small loser for us currently," BetMGM trading manager Hal Egeland said. "They still lead in total bets and handle, but we're protected a bit with their short price and some interest going elsewhere.

"I'm sure the liability will crawl up a bit once we get closer to the postseason. But the Dodgers aren't a big concern yet."

Meanwhile, the Yankees (37-25) are at their shortest odds of the season. But an issue just cropped up: Slugger Aaron Judge is out four to six weeks with a stress facture in his ribs.

"There's been a decent amount of interest in the Yankees since the season started," Egeland said. "Despite that interest, the Yankees remain one of our better results amongst the real competitors. We'll see if the Judge injury slows down that interest at all.

"I'm speculating here, but I think we'd get some rollover action from New York fans if the Knicks happen to take down the Spurs in the NBA Finals."

Rounding out the top five in BetMGM's 2026 World Series odds are the Atlanta Braves (+900), Seattle Mariners (+1100) and the Milwaukee Brewers (+1700).

The Braves lead the majors with a 42-21 mark through games of June 4. But Atlanta isn't overly popular with bettors yet, at eighth in tickets and fifth in money at BetMGM.

For comparison: The Dodgers have taken twice as many bets and almost four times more money than Atlanta, which opened at +2000.

The Tampa Bay Rays have the best record in the AL, at 36-23. Yet Tampa is far less popular than Atlanta. The Rays are 22nd in ticket count and 16th in money at BetMGM.

The top five ticket-takers in BetMGM's MLB championship futures:

  • Dodgers
  • Yankees
  • Tigers
  • Mariners
  • Blue Jays

"What’s interesting is that although the Dodgers lead in total bets, the next four teams by ticket count all come from the American League," Egeland said. "That clustering doesn’t feel like a coincidence, with customers seemingly avoiding the National League."

BetMGM's top five in money in 2026 World Series odds:

  • Dodgers
  • Yankees
  • Blue Jays
  • Mariners
  • Braves

Defending AL champion Toronto (29-30) opened +1800 in 2026 World Series futures and is now +2500, with a subpar 30-33 record. Preseason, Detroit was the +2000 co-ninth choice, but is now out to +6000 with a 25-38 record.

As noted above, the Mariners are in the top five in tickets and money to win it all. And Seattle landed the two biggest futures wagers BetMGM has seen so far, though not on the World Series.

Rather, a customer put a massive $450,000 on the Mariners to have 90 or more wins, at -110. If Seattle gets there, then the bettor profits $409,090.91. Seattle also took a $300,000 bet at even money to win the AL West, for potential profit of $300,000.

However, through games of May 30, the M's are only three games above .500 at 33-30. Still, that's good enough for the lead in a mediocre AL West.

Needs and Liabilities

Usually, short prices make it difficult for favorites to become noteworthy liabilities. But as noted above, so many bettors are riding the Dodgers' train that L.A. is indeed at least a minor trouble spot in 2026 World Series futures odds.

So big picture, where does BetMGM stand?

"Among contenders, we'd be cheering on the Brewers, Yankees and Jays.  We'll be cheering against the Dodgers, White Sox and Pirates. It's been a while since I could consider the Pirates and White Sox contenders," Egeland said.

But this season, Pittsburgh is 34-29 and is now +4000 in World Series odds, after opening a massive +25000 (250/1). The White Sox (33-29) were an even longer shot of +50000 (500/1) at open and are now +8000.

World Series Odds

The MLB World Series takes place in late October and is often referred to as the Fall Classic. World Series futures odds for each season are made shortly after the conclusion of the previous season, and sometimes even sooner.

Since the MLB regular season is the longest of the four major sports, bookmakers don’t make one team a decisive favorite over another prior to the season. You’ll usually see three to four teams have World Series Odds of +1000 or less.

The majority of the MLB teams will have future odds ranging from +1000 to +7000 or so. Then you start to get into longer shots, with some teams at +20000 (200/1) or more.

How Do I Bet On The World Series?

It’s very simple to bet on the World Series, since the MLB futures odds market is always open for business. To figure out your Win Amount, a bettor would take the betting odds offered on a team and multiply by the amount wagered.

For example: The Yankees are +700 (7/1) to win the World Series. A $100 wager would profit $700, for a total payout of $800.
