Betting on the Chicago White Sox
With the White Sox recent rejuvenation, fans are flocking to the stadium and the team has become a hot ticket in the betting market.
White Sox Franchise History
In the first two decades of the franchise’s existence, it claimed two World Series titles and appeared in another thanks in part to folklore legend Shoeless Joe Jackson.
After their World Series loss to the Cincinnati Reds in 1919, the White Sox fell on hard times and rarely won more games than they lost.
In 1959, Chicago lost another World Series, extending its title drought to 42 years. Unfortunately for White Sox fans, it wouldn’t be until 2005 that the infamous streak was finally broken.
The 2005 White Sox won 99 regular season games and swept the Houston Astros in four games in the World Series. Starting Pitcher Mark Buehrle and First Baseman Paul Konerko played integral roles in capturing the franchise’s first championship since Shoeless Joe’s days.
Since snapping the drought, the White Sox have struggled to establish consistent success, but it’s not for lack of talent across the board.
Former Sox pitcher Chris Sale finished top-5 in Cy Young voting in each of his last four seasons with the team and First Baseman Jose Abreu even won an MVP in 2020.
Betting on the Chicago White Sox in Illinois
Both online and retail sports betting were legalized in Illinois in 2019, but they did not launch until 2020. BetRivers Sportsbook went live on June 18, 2020, officially making Illinois online sports betting a reality.

As the sports betting market experiences continued growth and maturity, White Sox bettors should reap the benefits of its diversity. Check out the example below to see what betting on the White Sox looks like:

- Chicago Cubs +1.5
In this instance, White Sox backers need the team to beat its cross-town rival by at least two runs. If the White Sox beat the Cubs by 1 run, or lose outright, the wager settles as a loss.
White Sox Sportsbook Partnerships
Currently, the White Sox have no official sportsbook partnerships, but the team has partnered with Hard Rock Northern Indiana Casino. The casino will serve as the radio sponsor for the Sox.
Many Chicago professional sports team owners have backed a proposal to allow in-arena or in-stadium sports betting experiences, which could spark more partnerships in the future.
