Betting on the Detroit Tigers
Gone are the days of Verlander, Scherzer, and an MVP-caliber Miguel Cabrera. Despite that, the Tigers remain a betting option for some in a state where the betting market is strong.
Detroit Tigers Franchise History
In the first decade of the 1900s, the Tigers made some noise, as they made a few World Series appearances with Ty Cobb leading the way. Then, in the 1930s, the team added another pair of appearances, and its first victory, to its resume.
10 years after the club’s first World Series, it captured its second, in 1945. Throughout the Tigers’ history, the team sporadically appeared in the World Series, adding its third championship in ’68 and its fourth in ’84.
Detroit struggled mightily to stay relevant after its 1984 Series win until the early 2010s. With future Hall of Famers Miguel Cabrera and Justin Verlander leading the way, the Tigers rattled off four straight playoff appearances for the first time in franchise history.
Unfortunately, playoff success wasn’t as easy to come by as regular season success. Detroit advanced to the World Series in one of those four years, where it was swept by the San Francisco Giants.
