Ole Miss head coach Ed Orgeron announced today that senior Seth Adams has won the starting quarterback job, beating out last year's starter Brent Schaeffer.
"Since we opened the quarterback position in the spring, Seth has been the most consistent, both in the spring and in fall camp," Orgeron told RebelSports.net.
Adams, a junior-college transfer who walked on at Ole Miss, played sparingly in 2006. He appeared in six games, completing 17-of-31 passes for 177 yards. Adams had zero touchdown passes and zero interceptions.
Schaeffer, who began his career at Tennessee competing with Erik Ainge, was inconsistent and inaccurate last season. Not only that, but he wasn't the effective scrambler many advertised him to be. Schaeffer completed only 47.1 percent of his throws for 1,442 yards, with a 9/10 TD-INT ratio.
The Rebels play at Memphis in their opener. They are 2 1/2-point favorites at most sports books.
