I've been saying this on the Power Hours for weeks and also mentioned it at the VI Seminar: I love the Rams to go 'over' for their season win total (8 at most books).
Why, you ask? Well, because St. Louis is going to have one of the NFL's premier offenses. You've got a quarterback in Marc Bulger who is one of the 6-7 best in the league. You've got a RB in Steven Jackson who is one of the top 3-4 in the league. Ditto for WR Torry Holt.
Couple those factors with the additions of FB Brian Leonard, TE Randy McMichael and WR Drew Bennett, and you've got a scary offense.
Leonard is a versatile rookie out of Rutgers who can block, catch the ball out of the backfield, run with it and most of all, he's one of those ultimate team guys whose presence is invaluable in the locker room.
As for McMichael, he's a guy that's been the victim of borderline abysmal QB play during his five seasons with the Dolphins. He's one of the top handful of tight ends in the NFL, and that'll show in his numbers this season. Look for a breakout year from McMichael in 2007.
As for Bennett, he was the No. 1 wideout in Tennessee the last two years. As a No. 3 option, he should be outstanding.
Yes, I have questions about the Rams on the defensive side of the ball, but their offense will be able to outscore teams, making a play on the 'over' the way to go. Bet it with confidence!
