Just a few nuggets here...
--Georgia RB Thomas Brown is “out” with a broken collarbone. On the bright side, Kregg Lumpkin has returned from a broken thumb, but he’s still not quite 100 percent. Look for dynamic redshirt freshman Knowshon Moreno to carry the bulk of the rushing load. UGA will be without two of its starting linebackers, too. Brandon Miller (calf) and Marcus Washington (shoulder) will not make the trip to Nashville, where the Dawgs are seven-point favorites against Vanderbilt.
--Kentucky RB Rafael Little has not practiced all week due to a deep thigh bruise. After Thursday’s practice, UK head coach Rich Brooks told CatsPause.com, “He’s still very questionable.” I talked to the Lexington Herald-Leader’s UK beat writer Chip Cosby earlier this week, and Cosby told VegasInsider.com, “ I say he plays, but he won’t be 100 percent.” Little has rushed 107 times for 638 yards and three touchdowns this season. He averages 6.4 yards per carry average.
--According to a number of reports, LSU senior WR Early Doucet is expected to return from a groin injury at UK. Doucet has missed four straight games.
--According to Friday’s edition of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Georgia Tech WR James Johnson has been upgraded from “out” to “questionable.” Johnson suffered a knee injury in last week’s 28-26 loss at Maryland. G-Tech head coach Chan Gailey told the AJC that Johnson was, “suddenly much, much better. I wouldn’t be surprised if he got a few reps.” The Yellow Jackets will be without two starters from their offensive line, Nate McManus (shoulder) and Jacob Lonowski (shoulder), when they play at Miami.
--USC quarterback Mark Sanchez will make his first career start vs. Arizona. John David Booty is “doubtful” with a broken middle finger on his throwing hand.
--Virginia Tech LB Vince Hall is “out” at Duke.
--Why is it that Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel and yours truly are the only people I’ve heard slamming Urban Meyer for his atrocious clock management last week?
