Houston Nutt has resigned as the head coach at Arkansas, instantly making him the top candidate at Ole Miss. This is a move that I suggested could occur as far back as October, and don't be surprised if Nutt inks a $2 million per year deal with the Rebels by Wednesday.
Ole Miss fired Ed Orgeron after three terrible seasons in Oxford. With that said, Orgeron did a better-than-decent job of recruiting, so Nutt won't inherit a terrible situation by any means.
Jevan Snead, a highly-touted prep quarterback who initially committed to Florida but then signed with Texas to avoid sitting behind Tim Tebow, is the QB of the future for Ole Miss. After serving as Colt McCoy's back-up for the Longhorns as a true freshman, Snead sat out this year after transferring to play for the Rebels. He will have three years of eligibility.
I'll have some more coaching-moves stuff in a column on the college football arena shortly.
