Good afternoon, folks. Just wanted to check in and jump around to a few topics on this Wednesday...
--Mississippi St. sophomore guard Ben Hansbrough has elected to transfer to Notre Dame after also considering Oklahoma St. Hansbrough, the brother of UNC's Tyler, will have two years of eligibility for the Irish after sitting out the 2008-2009 campaign. Hansbrough scored 17 points in the Bulldogs' three-point loss to eventual runner-up Memphis in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
--Atlanta RHP John Smoltz went on the disabled list Tuesday with inflammation in his rotator cuff. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Smoltz is willing to move back to the bullpen. He hopes to return in the next 15-30 days.
--Here's the New York Daily News column about Roger Clemens.
--Mark Cuban doesn't waste much time, canning Avery Johnson less than 24 hours after a second straight first-round exit from the playoffs for Dallas. Somebody thinks Rick Pitino might be a candidate.
--After the Mavs were dismissed last night, TNT's Charles Barkley had this zinger about Josh Howard, "I know he's excited about the end of the season." For those of you hiding under a rock the past week, Howard admitted last week to smoking marijuana on a regular basis during the off-season.
