If you don't live in the state of Alabama and you're not an SEC fan, you may have never heard of Paul Finebaum, who is a sports writer for the Mobile Press-Register and hosts a radio show that airs throughout the state five days a week. Finebaum is never shy about ripping people to shreds, and he was certainly in vintage form with this column that torches new Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin.
Finebaum didn't pull any punches when it came to Mark Gottfried's recent dismissal as Alabama basketball coach, either. He had this, among other things, to say about Gottfried the week before his dismissal:
Today, I see someone who has wandered into middle age while becoming intoxicated with money and power, someone who has lost touch.
Gottfried has gone from a struggling mid-major coach at Murray State to a $1 million a year big shot in the SEC, to a person some of his closest friends barely recognize anymore.
Finebaum also had this about Bobby Knight as a potential hire at Alabama.
