AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -Plenette Pierson scored 20 points and Deanna Nolan had 17 of her 19 points in the first half to help the Detroit Shock beat the Indiana Fever 90-68 Friday night.

``Between the Olympic break and the suspension, I've had a long time off,'' Pierson said. ``I've had time to rest my body and work hard on my mental approach. I wanted to come out and play hard tonight, and I think we all did that.''

Kara Braxton scored 12 and rookie Alexis Hornbuckle added 10 as the Shock finished off a three-game season sweep of Indiana.

``Taj fills in fairly well for Cheryl Ford, but the thing with that team is their bench,'' Indiana coach Linn Dunn said. ``You get by Taj, Deanna Nolan, Katie Smith and Kara Braxton, and then they throw Plenette Pierson and Alexis Hornbuckle and Sheri Sam at you. That's tough to stop.''

Tamika Catchings scored 20 and Ebony Hoffman added 12 for Indiana, which had their two-game winning streak snapped.

Pierson was returning from a four-game suspension for the July 22 brawl against Los Angeles.

The game was tied at 17 early in the second quarter, but Detroit scored the next 16 points to take control. Nolan had seven points in the run and Hornbuckle had six.

``That's a good feeling - once you hit a couple shots in a row, you just start rolling,'' Nolan said. ``We feel like we need to prove that we're back after the injuries and the break, and playing like this is how we have to do it.''

The Shock led by 20 during the period and were up 46-29 at halftime.

Pistons forward and Olympic gold medalist Tayshaun Prince attended the game.
