LVSC Power Rankings, Week 9

Tennessee has moved atop the Las Vegas Sports Consultants Power Rankings compliments of its 7-0 straight up and against the spread ledger. The Titans continued their winning ways after upending AFC South rival Indianapolis Monday as a four-point home 'chalk,' 31-21. Tennessee was fourth last weekend, but leapfrogged Pittsburgh and the New York Giants who played each other last weekend.

The Titans hope to remain unbeaten when they host the Green Bay Packers this weekend as a 5 1/2-point favorite.  Tennessee (143.5) opened as a seven-point 'chalk' over Green Bay (139.1) before being bet down to its current number.  There is no set number assigned for homefield advantage, but the rule of thumb is generally around four points.

New York remains in the second slot once again despite rallying past Pittsburgh last weekend as a 2 1/2-point road underdog, 21-14.  The defending champion Giants are now 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS as they prepare to host NFC East rival Dallas as an eight-point 'chalk.'  New York (143.4) is favored due to its higher power ranking over the Cowboys (138.5) plus homefield advantage.

How tight are things among the power teams in the NFL this season?  The top three teams according to LVSC are separated by just .3 points.  Last year at this time, the New England Patriots had a huge ratings lead over every team en route to a perfect season.

While most of the focus is on the top squads, there are two teams that are still searching for their first victory.  However, neither the Detroit Lions (0-7) or the Cincinnati Bengals (0-8) are the worst team according to the LVSC Power Rankings.  That dubious honor goes to the 1-6 Kansas City Chiefs who have been outscored this year, 193-99.  Kansas City has a rating of 129.7, just behind the Bengals at 129.9 and the Lions at 130.0.  Detroit, Cincinnati and Kansas City were also ranked 30, 31 and 32 last weekend.

Here's a complete list of all the teams along with their power rankings.
