There's nothing that jumps off the page when it comes to Scott's T30 finish in Texas last week, at least not on the surface. If you look at the strokes-gained data, he actually gained 1.1 strokes off the tee and 5.2 strokes on approach. His results have been consistent over the last six months, but his statistics have been all over the place. One week he'll do it with the ball striking, and the next he'll do it with the short game. The good news is that he has the potential to gain in all four categories. He loves classical golf courses like this one and finished T5 here in 2023. I'm betting a half unit on the outright and a full unit on the top 10.
BET365Some say betting on Young to win is foolish, but they said the same about Stephan Jaeger before he won earlier this year. The way I see it, it's only a matter of time before he breaks through with his first win on the PGA TOUR. He already has 7 runner-up finishes and 10 top 5 finishes. It's not like he doesn't know how to win, as he picked up 2 victories on the Korn Ferry Tour. I've always said that his first win will come on a championship-level golf course because he plays his best on difficult tracks (look at his record in the majors). He's a bomber off the tee and excellent with his mid and long irons. If the putter shows up, I expect him to be in contention once again. I'm betting the outright and the top 10.
We don't see a player win the same event in back-to-back years very often, but it certainly happens. This was the event that really kick-started Clark's career. He won here last summer and then went on to win the U.S. Open. He's been incredible in Signature Events this season, winning at Pebble Beach, finishing 2nd at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, 2nd at THE PLAYERS, and 3rd at the RBC Heritage. He's a bomber off the tee and doesn't have a weakness in his game. I personally think he has similar win equity as Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele this week, yet he has much more appealing outright odds at +1600.
