Patriots Are Still Super Bow LIII Favorites

What. A. Freaking. Game.

The Philadelphia Eagles submitted one of the finest performances ever witnessed in a Super Bowl to dethrone the mighty New England Patriots using a washed up second-string quarterback and a masterful game plan.

It was a sight to behold as Philly proved that their momentum churning victory in the NFC Championship against Minnesota was no accident.

Accidentally knocking Patriots wide receiver Brandin Cooks out of the game certainly had benefits for the Eagles, who didn’t have to deal with a real deep threat that boasted speed. It compacted the playing field for the Patriots who had a staggeringly good game themselves, but coughed up a sack-fumble at absolutely the worst time.

Credit Eagles head coach Doug Pederson with that victory.

He knew how to keep his defensive linemen’s legs fresh for the fourth quarter, unleashed an offensive attack that picked apart the shortcomings of Matt Patricia’s schemes and let QB Nick Foles go out there and win the craziest Super Bowl MVP of all time.

In the process, the books and Las Vegas got absolutely steam rolled by the public and sharps. Even the prop bet markets were out of control for the sportsbooks as Brady, Foles, Gronkowski, Amendola, Agholar and Alshon all smashed their projected statistics in the over. It was a rough day at the office for the bookies.

That hasn’t stopped the oddsmakers at from inserting the Patriots as +500 favorites to win Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta. They’re going to have a massive overhaul in terms of coaching, but will enjoy the return of Julian Edelman.

Philadelphia is the second choice at +800 while the publicly adored Packers are the standalone third favorite at +1000.

Odds to win Super Bowl LIII (2/319) - per
New England Patriots +500
Philadelphia Eagles +800
Green Bay Packer +1000
Pittsburgh Steelers +1200
Minnesota Vikings +1400
Atlanta Falcons +1800
Los Angeles Rams +1800

Interestingly enough the Pittsburgh Steelers are ranked fourth overall for SBLIII despite some curiously strange contract dealings with one running back named Le’Veon Bell. This is a strangely built market, to be honest. The Seahawks and Cowboys, who seem like genuine longshots heading in to the 2018 NFL betting season to do any significant damage, are +2000. The best bet of the market may be the Minnesota Vikings, who are reportedly the favorite landing spot for Kirk Cousins.

Is it too early to bet on the 2018 NFL season?

Absolutely not. Lock and load those futures bets.

I’m sure a lot of you have some spare change lying around after an absolutely wild Super Bowl LII. Fly Eagles Fly.
