When Will the New York Jets Win Their First Game?
In one of the most hilarious NFL markets to hit the pipeline recently, BetOnline.ag has actually established a board for when the New York Jets are going to win their first game.
This comes after they booted four field goals in a 12-21 loss to the lowly Buffalo Bills, who have their own problems.
Everyone and their grandmother knew that the New York Jets were going to be bad this year. What might have been an oversight for most of us is that their schedule is also comically difficult.
Just look at what the oddsmakers have put up for sale in the NFL futures market.
WHEN WILL NEW YORK JETS WIN FIRST GAME?
Week 2 Oakland (away) +500
Week 3 Miami +450
Week 4 Jacksonville +225
Week 5 Cleveland (away) +350
Week 6 New England +3300
Week 7 Miami (away) +2800
Week 8 Atlanta +2800
Week 9 Buffalo +1200
Week 10 Tampa Bay (away) +3300
Week 11 BYE WEEK +3300
Week 12 Carolina +5000
Week 13 Kansas City +4000
Week 14 Denver (away) +4000
Week 16 New Orleans (away) +4000
Week 17 New England (away) +10000
After seeing how Week 1 unfolded, we can all agree that this is one rough slate to play uphill against.
What can you expect? This is the same team that cut Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall, two players who are already starting for other teams, while also sending star defensive-tackle Sheldon Richardson to Seattle for a decent haul.
They have made it their priority to be bad, which you can tell because they chose to sign Josh McCown as their starting quarterback. If you want a number-one pick in the draft, McCown is the guy for you!
The Jets are, for whatever reason, only getting 5-1 odds to win this weekend even though they’re a +14.0 point underdog against the Oakland Raiders at BetOnline.ag so hammering that bet seems like a fool’s errand.
The two matchups the oddsmakers like the most are Jacksonville and Cleveland. I would maybe tak a shot with Jacksonville, even though they look better than advertised, but I wouldn’t touch the matchup with the Browns.
This is the same team that rode McCown’s injury riddled carcass to the second worst record in 2015 and the worst record in 2016. They’re not letting him beat them.
Outside of Cleveland, Jacksonville, Miami and Buffalo, every other team that the Jets play is a legit contender. Ok, maybe not the New Orleans Saints but they are a preposterous 5-3 SU and 6-2 ATS in the month of December so forget about that.
This is probably a good time to mention that the other bet that BetOnline.ag is offering is the Jets to go winless at +1000.
