Betting on the Las Vegas Raiders

Few professional sports franchises represent the true spirit of their team name than the Las Vegas Raiders. Backed by legions of football fans on a global scale, the Raiders also hold a spot high on the list for sports betting fans.

Las Vegas Raiders Overview

As one of the most popular NFL franchises with both fans and bettors, the Raiders are also one of the more travelled teams in the league. Their origins date back to 1960 and the city of Oakland as a member of the old American Football League.

The AFL merged with the NFL in 1970 and the Raiders became a fixture in the league’s AFC West Division. The year before, team owner Al Davis hired John Madden as his head coach and the rest was history.

Prior to Madden taking over the helm, the Raiders did make a run to the AFL/NFL Championship Game in 1967 which is now referred to as Super Bowl II. Oakland came up short in a 33-14 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Madden led the Raiders to the first of three Super Bowl titles in 1976 when they beat the Minnesota Vikings 32-14. In 1979, Tom Flores took over for Madden and got Oakland back to the Super Bowl just one season later.

This time around, the Raiders beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10 in Super Bowl XV with Jim Plunkett as the starting quarterback. The third world title was in 1983 with the Raiders crushing Washington 38-9 after moving to Los Angeles.

After spending 13 seasons in LA, the Raiders moved back to Oakland before taking up permanent residence in Las Vegas in 2020.

Playing against bitter rivals such as the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers, wagering on the Raiders as home favorites in Las Vegas is a popular bet.

If the Raiders were three-point favorites on the NFL point spread against Denver, they would have to beat the Broncos by at least four points to win that bet.

BetMGM beat everyone to the punch by becoming an official sports betting partner of the Las Vegas Raiders in September of 2020. At the time, Raiders team president Marc Badain commented, “The addition of BetMGM will open new levels of engagement for Raiders fans and guests of Allegiant Stadium.”
