MLB - Most Home Runs Future Odds

Who do you think will hit the most home runs in Major League Baseball this season? Odds are on the board for who will hit the most home runs, with Aaron Judge listed as the favorite at odds of +800. His Yankee teammate, Giancarlo Stanton is the second choice at odds of +900. Last year’s home run champion, Khris Davis is the third choice at odds of +1200. Let’s look at the odds, some facts and picks.

Who Will Hit the Most Home Runs in 2019?
Aaron Judge +800
Giancarlo Stanton +900
Khris Davis +1200
JD Martinez +1500
Mike Trout +1500
Joey Gallo +2000
Bryce Harper +2500
Rhys Hoskins +2500
Matt Olson +3000
Nolan Arenado +3000
Nelson Cruz +4000
Kris Bryant +5500
Manny Machado +5500
Anthony Rizzo +6000
Edwin Encarnacion +6000
Francisco Lindor +6000
Jesus Aguilar +6500
Cody Bellinger +7000
Eugenio Suarez +7000
Gary Sanchez +7000
Jose Ramirez +7000
Juan Soto +7000
Justin Upton +7000
Kyle Schwarber +7000
Mike Moustakas +7000
Mookie Betts +7000
Ronald Acuna Jr. +7000
Trevor Story +7000
Hunter Renfroe +7500
Alex Bregman +8000

All of the other players are listed with odds of +10000 or they are part of the field.

Khris Davis of the A’s hit 48 home runs last season to lead the league. He was listed at odds of +2500 to win the home run title last season. He is getting a lot more respect this time around, as he is listed at +1200. Davis definitely doesn’t have the value in the betting odds he had last season, but keep in mind that he has hit 40 or more home runs in three straight seasons.

Giancarlo Stanton hit the most home runs two years ago and he is the third choice in the betting, while Aaron Judge, who was the runner-up to Stanton in 2017, is the current betting favorite at odds of +800.

Stanton hit 38 home runs last season, while Judge hit 27. It should be noted that Judge played in just 112 games. The problem for Judge early in his career is that he has been a little bit injury prone. Judge is a very popular player, but he simply hasn’t been able to stay healthy enough to recommend betting him as the favorite.

J.D. Martinez hit 43 home runs last season for the Red Sox, but he still was five home runs behind Davis. The only other player to hit at least 40 home runs last season was Joey Gallo who had 40. Gallo could be an interesting darkhorse at odds of +2000. He strikes out a lot, but that is really meaningless when it comes to hitting home runs.

An interesting longshot could be Rhys Hoskins of the Phillies. He hit 34 home runs last season and he plays in a small park in Philadelphia. If the Phillies end up signing Bryce Harper you have to think that Hoskins could get at lot of pitches to hit if he follows Harper in the order.

Most Home Runs Picks

I don’t think there is much value in taking any of the top five players. Judge or Stanton could definitely hit the most home runs, but it is hard to take either player at single-digit odds. Davis won the title last season and his value is really gone, especially since players rarely win the home run title in back-to-back seasons. Martinez had a great year for Boston in 2018 and he still didn’t win the home run title. I think he is totally overvalued at +1500. Mike Trout has never won the home run title and he is also overvalued at +1500.

If you are going to tie up your money for almost six months you need to get some serious value. I think Gallo has a little bit of value at +2000 and I also think there is value in taking Hoskins at +2500. Perhaps there is also some value in taking Arenado at odds of +3000. We don’t think of Arenado as a home run hitter, but he has either hit the most home runs or tied for the lead in the National League in three of the last four years.
