It’s been a crazy week at Bodog. The long list of NFL props that we’ve been working on for weeks over at Bodog’s online sportsbook has finally been unveiled. If you like betting on all things NFL, you’ll want to check it out.
Props have become a huge part of our offering and our players have come to expect them in droves from us. That wasn’t always the case, even a few years ago. But as competition has increased in the online bookmaking business, everyone has been forced to get more innovative. The alternative is to perish.
For the 2010 NFL season, we’ve put together odds on everything from the league leader in passing yards to the league leader in rushing yards to the league leader in receiving yards for wide receivers. What about odds for the league leader in receiving yards for tight ends? Yep, we’ve got those, too. We’ve got odds on how many yards Eli Manning will throw for and how many touchdowns Dez Bryant will catch. Just name a player at a skill position and we’ve probably got odds on how he’ll do this season. Hell, we’ve even got odds on who will be the most successful second-year running back. (FYI: The favorite is Shonn Greene.)
Our props even go beyond the players. Will Wade Phillips be fired as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys? We’ve got odds on that.
We’re still trying to get a handle on the early action, but I can tell you that bettors are expecting big things from Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. We’ve got Rodgers at 6/1 to rack up the most passing yards in 2010 and he’s getting plenty of support at that number. (Drew Brees at 9/2 and Matt Schaub at 8/1 are also seeing some action.)
Meanwhile, we’ve set Rodgers’ total passing yards at 4,225 and have already had to change the moneyline on the over option to -125. (Rodgers threw for 4,434 yards last season and, obviously, a lot of people are expecting a repeat performance, or even better.)
Bettors have been a little less enthusiastic about Rodgers’ total touchdowns, which we set at 29.5. The talented QB threw 30 TD passes last year, so maybe bettors see a little less wiggle room in this case. The Packers also have a nice running option in Ryan Grant, so it’s not like they’re forced to throw once they get in the red zone.
Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys our NFL props for the upcoming season. We’ve put a ton of work into them. Now it’s your turn to make us pay for any mistakes.
