LATEST UPDATE: The Los Angeles Dodgers are now the -190 favorite in BetMGM's World Series futures odds, moving further into minus-money territory.

The Dodgers entered the NLCS vs. the Milwaukee Brewers as +115 chalk to win the Fall Classic. Los Angeles then went out and took Games 1 and 2 on the road, then Thursday grabbed Game 3, as well. Dodger Blue could clinch a World Series bid Friday.

The Brewers entered the NLCS as the +425 third choice in World Series championship odds and are now a +5000 long shot. Milwaukee needs to win Games 4 and 5 in L.A. just to get this series back to its own ballpark.

Similarly, the Seattle Mariners took a 2-0 lead on the road vs. the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS. So BetMGM moved the Mariners from the +340 third choice pre-ALCS to the +180 second choice, while Toronto fell from +325 to +1300 in World Series odds.

But Toronto repaid the favor, winning Games 3 and 4 in Seattle. The Mariners are still the second choice, but at +375, they're just barely ahead of the Jays' +400. Game 5 is Friday in Seattle.

"The Dodgers or Brewers winning the World Series would make many bettors happy," BetMGM senior trader Hal Egeland said. "The sportsbook will be cheering for whichever team comes out of the American League, with the Blue Jays being the best outcome."

Los Angeles is No. 1 in tickets and money in BetMGM's World Series futures. Teams 2-4 in tickets have been eliminated – the Phillies, Tigers and Yankees – while Toronto checks in at No. 5.

In money, Milwaukee is No. 2 to the Dodgers, but L.A. has taken twice as much money in World Series odds. Philly is No. 3, but again has already been eliminated. Toronto is fourth, followed by the ousted Yankees.

World Series Odds

The MLB World Series takes place in late October and is often referred to as the Fall Classic. World Series futures odds for each season are made shortly after the conclusion of the previous season, and sometimes even sooner.

Since the MLB regular season is the longest of the four major sports, bookmakers don’t make one team a decisive favorite over another prior to the season. You’ll usually see three to four teams have World Series Odds of +1000 or less.

The majority of the MLB teams will have future odds ranging from +1000 to +7000 or so. Then you start to get into longer shots, with some teams at +20000 (200/1) or more.

How Do I Bet On The World Series?

It’s very simple to bet on the World Series, since the MLB futures odds market is always open for business. To figure out your Win Amount, a bettor would take the betting odds offered on a team and multiply by the amount wagered.

For example: The Yankees are +700 (7/1) to win the World Series. A $100 wager would profit $700, for a total payout of $800.
