Betting on the Tennessee Titans

Since Mike Vrabel took over as head coach, the Titans have surprised a lot of folks, both with their success on the field and against the spread.

Tennessee Titans Franchise History

The Titans’ professional football tenure began in the AFL in 1960, as the Houston Oilers, when they capped off their inaugural season with a championship. The next season, the Oilers followed up with another title.

Unfortunately for Oilers and Titans fans, season two was the last time they were satisfied with the ending.

The Oilers were adopted into the NFL in 1970 and failed to string together consistent runs of success until the arrival of quarterback Warren Moon.

While Moon wasn’t able to carry the Oilers past the Divisional Round of the playoffs, he helped bring a winning culture to the franchise in the form of seven straight playoff appearances.

After Moon’s time, Coach Jeff Fisher took over and the team moved to Tennessee. Despite meddling around .500 in Fisher’s first few seasons, the now-Titans reached their first ever Super Bowl in 2000.

Steve McNair, Eddie George, and Jevon Kearse took the team up against Kurt Warner and the Rams, but the Titans fell short by exactly one yard in a supremely dramatic Super Bowl finish.

The Titans saw on-and-off success for the remainder of Fisher’s tenure. Highlights included the team’s 13-3 regular season finish in 2008 and Chris Johnson’s 2,000 yards rushing in 2009.

Since Mike Vrabel took over head coaching duties in 2018, the Titans have enjoyed almost unprecedented success, thanks in large part to star running back Derrick Henry.

Betting on the Titans in Tennessee

Retail sports betting is not legal in Tennessee, but online sports betting is fully operational as of November 2020.

Upon its launch, Tennessee became the first state to introduce an online-only model. There are no retail casinos in the state, and Tennessee legislators are not anticipating that to change.

It’s a unique approach to sports betting implementation, but it has worked so far for Tennessee. Some of the state’s live sportsbooks include DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars, and more.

Betting on a Titans spread online looks like this:

·        Titans -5.5

·        Colts +5.5

Here, the Titans are favored by 5.5 points over their decision rival, the Indianapolis Colts. Titans bettors need Tennessee to win by at least 6 points to cover the spread and cash their bet.

If the Titans win by fewer than 6, or lose to the Colts, Indianapolis covers the spread and Titans spread bets lose.

Tennessee Titans Sportsbook Partnerships

One sportsbook falling under the “more” umbrella is BetMGM, the Titans’ official sportsbook partner. In September 2020, before online sports betting went live in the Volunteer state, the Titans partnered with BetMGM Sportsbook.

As many team-sportsbook-partnerships do, the deal provides BetMGM with ample signage throughout Nissan Stadium. BetMGM also received naming rights to the Titans’ television studio and is a part of other content released by the organization.

Fans reap the benefits of special offers and betting opportunities through the BetMGM app.
