SAN DIEGO PADRES vs. LOS ANGELES DODGERS BETTING PREDICTION

The Padres faced their first loss of the postseason after falling to the Dodgers in the series opener. The offense had seven hits and three runs on the day and went 0-4 with runners in scoring position. It doesn’t help that Juan Soto and Manny Machado were a combined 1-7 at the plate. Starting pitcher Mike Clevinger had a bad outing, going just 2 2/3 IP while giving up six hits and all five of the Dodgers runs. The other four pitchers used did not allow a hit or run. RHP Yu Darvish (16-8, 3.10 ERA) is expected to start Game 2.

Los Angeles picks up right where they left off in the regular season with a 5-3 win in Game 1. The offense did not have a whole lot of production with only six hits, but they were efficient going 3-8 RISP. Starter Julio Urias gave up four hits and three runs in 5 innings of work. Not a terrible outing considering how hot the Padres bats were in the Mets series. The other four pitchers used gave up a combined three hits and zero runs. Southpaw pitcher Clayton Kershaw (12-3, 2.28) is scheduled to take the mound Wednesday.

The Dodgers have dominated the Padres this season, going 16-4 SU in 20 matchups. Darvish will give San Diego a chance in this one, but going against Kershaw is a tough ask. There is no value in playing the Dodgers ML with most books offering it right around -200. I’ll play the UNDER here, as I think we should see a low-scoring game with Darvish and Kershaw slinging the ball.

Score Prediction: Dodgers 4, Padres 3
Best Bet: Under 7.5 (-110)
