Road teams posted a 4-3 mark on Saturday and visitors have been a decent bet overall this season.

Manchester City (-1250) and Chelsea (-715) dominated as heavy home favorites, both posting three-goal victories.

Bournemouth (+133) scored a season-high four goals as it defeated Leicester City 4-2, which was the highest combined score in Matchday 5.

West Ham United (+250) pulled off the largest upset of the weekend when it stunned Everton 3-1 at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Southampton and Brighton & Hove played to a 2-2 draw (+227) on Monday and that was the only tie of the weekend.

Notable Trends

-- Chelsea and Liverpool remain perfect (5-0) through five matches and the pair will meet twice next week in a League Cup match from Anfield on Wednesday (9/26) before squaring off in league play from Stamford Bridge on Saturday (9/29).

-- There are four clubs – Cardiff City, Huddersfield, Newcastle United, Burnley – that have failed to capture a league victory this season.

-- After opening the season with a pair of losses to the big boys (Man City, Chelsea), Arsenal has bullied its way to three consecutive wins.

Borussia Dortmund (-222) captured a 3-1 win on Friday over Eintracht Frankfurt as a healthy home favorite. The ‘over’ (3) connected with three goals in the second-half.

Home teams went 5-0 on Saturday with one draw. Goals were aplenty as well with every game seeing at least three combined goals posted, which helped the ‘over’ go 5-1.

Bayern Munich (-555) stopped Bayer 04 Leverkusen 3-1 at home, with a late goal helping the 'over' cash.

Three of the home teams that won on Saturday closed as underdogs with Mainz (+177), Fortuna Dusseldorf (+304) and Borussia Monchengladbach (+174) all posting 2-1 victories.

Sunday’s action saw two draws posted and the 3-3 outcome between Stuttgart and SC Freiburg was the highest-scoring game of Matchday 3.

Notable Trends

-- Bayern Munich (3-0) remains the only perfect team through three matches, posting a plus-seven goal differential (9-2).

-- Five clubs are tied for second place with seven points (2-1-0).

-- Schalke 04 and Bayer Leverkusen, clubs that finished second and fifth last season, are currently in the drop zone (17th, 18th). The pair are the only winless clubs (0-3) and have only managed two goals apiece through three games.

Parma (+1050) pulled off a huge upset on Saturday with a 1-0 victory at Inter Milan.

Sampdoria (+152) came to play this past weekend at Frosinone as they posted a 5-0 victory, with four of the goals coming in the second-half.

Juventus (-450) left plenty of goals off the board but still managed to secure a 2-1 home win over Sassuolo as the largest favorite on Sunday’s board.

Roma (-435) was another large favorite and while it didn’t lose, a 2-2 draw (+557) at home to Chieve Verona wasn’t expected, especially with a two-goal lead at halftime.

No clubs scored more than two goals and that helped the ‘under’ go 4-1-1 on Sunday.

The last game of Matchday 4 turned out to be a surprise as SPAL (+409) dropped Atalanta with a 2-0 home win.

Sampdoria and Fiorentina played to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday in a make-up game.

Notable Trends

-- Juventus (4-0) leads the league with nine goals scored and has picked up all 12 points through four games.

-- SPAL, who barely avoided relegation (17th) last season, continues to be the surprise of league play. The Ferrara-based club has the best defense in the league (1 goal) and that’s led to a 4-0 ‘under’ mark.

-- Bologna (0-1-3) and Frosinone (0-1-3) haven’t been able to score a goal in four league games, which is part of the reason why they’re sitting 18th and 19th respectively in the latest table.

-- After opening the season with three straight wins, Dijon has been humbled with back-to-back losses.

-- Nimes has watched the ‘over’ go 4-1 this season behind a steady offense (12 goals) and weak defense (12 goals).
