LANDuel Peer-To-Peer Esports Betting

EsportsEsports Betting | LANDuel

Esports is a global, growing market driven by the increased publicity and popularity of online gaming. Some projections have the esports industry pulling in over $1 billion for the first time in 2021. As the booms of esports and sports betting coincide, there is an escalating desire to pair the two together.

Hard Rock sportsbook in Atlantic City, New Jersey has been offering sports betting since early 2019. Now, it will make a splash in the esports space by partnering with Esports Entertainment Group to bring esports betting inside its walls.

The partnership will result in an in-person Madden NFL 22 tournament, hosted by and organized through LANDuel, an esports wagering platform and subsidiary of EEG. The groundbreaking event will span January 22nd-23rd at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino located on the Atlantic City boardwalk.

LANDUEL

LANDuel is a peer-to-peer skill-based betting platform for esports. Peer-to-peer betting, also known as a betting exchange, involves bettors creating their own odds as opposed to placing wagers based on a bookmaker’s odds.

To understand a betting exchange, think of placing a wager with a friend. If you’re playing against your friend in Madden ’22 as the Kansas City Chiefs, and he or she is the New York Jets, you might feel confident enough to bet your friend $100 that you will win. To make the wager official, your friend will need to agree to wager $100 on the opposite side of the bet. Without your friend’s agreement, there is no bet.

With LANDuel, gamers can bet on their own ability to beat other gamers in a betting exchange environment. The esports betting platform also provides event management tools like brackets for larger events. Gamers can win real cash and prizes by challenging other players with similar skillsets or participating in tournaments.

ESPORTS ENTERTAINMENT GROUP

Esports Entertainment Group is a publicly traded company that specializes in esports and online gambling. It offers legal wagering on esports events through recently-acquired LANDuel. The company, already a pioneer in safe and secure esports wagering, partnered with Liquipedia.net in early 2021, which will result in increased safety mechanisms for users on EEG’s platforms.

The reputable gaming company prides itself on growing the esports community by connecting players with similar interests and skillsets. It is an industry leader and has aggressively paced industry advancements through acquisitions of public relations firms, strategic investment groups, and technology companies.

GRAND PRIZES

The top eight finishers will receive a guaranteed cash prize, ranging from $225 for the seventh and eighth place finishers, all the way up to $3,600 for the champion. On top of prize money, players can also wager on the outcome of head-to-head matches. Players will be allowed to bet on themselves but not against themselves, and they will also be able to wager on the other matches in the tournament.

This allows players who are eliminated early to maintain interest, and it provides the opportunity to successful players to earn more than the listed prize money if they bet on themselves and rack up several wins. Spectators are also able to place wagers on the head-to-head matches after registering on-site for their LANDuel account.
