2019 Home Run Derby Odds

The 2019 Midsummer Classic takes place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio as the festivities begin on Monday night with Home Run Derby.

Bryce Harper captured the Home Run Derby crown last season at Nationals Park, but the slugger will not defend his title this time around.

Six hitters represent National League squads, while only two (Vladmir Guerrero, Jr. and Alex Bregman) will come from American League clubs.

Pirates' slugger Josh Bell is having a breakout season with 26 home runs, equaling his amount from his career best in 2017, which took 159 games. So far in 2019, Bell has needed only 85 games to hit 26 dingers, while leading baseball with 81 runs batted in. Bell is the early favorite to win the Derby at 7/2 odds (Bet $100 to win $350) according to the Las Vegas Westgate Superbook.

However, Bell is not the home run leader in the Majors as that honor belongs to last season's MVP Christian Yelich, who has knocked out 31 round-trippers for Milwaukee. Yelich is also on a crazy pace to reach 50 or 60 home runs after hitting 36 in 2018 as the Brewers' outfielder is right behind Bell at 4/1 odds.

Rookie sensation Pete Alonso of the Mets sits third in the National League in home runs behind Yelich and Dodgers' outfielder Cody Bellinger with 28 homers. Alonso is currently at 5/1 odds to win the derby, while Blue Jays' rookie slugger Guerrero is at 6/1 odds.

The hometown favorite is Cleveland's Carlos Santana, who enters the derby with 19 home runs, which is the lowest amount among those field with qualified at-bats (Guerrero has hit 8 home runs in 215 at-bats). Santana sits at 8/1 odds, right ahead of Atlanta's Ronald Acuna, Jr. (10/1) and Bregman (10/1), who is the only participant from the 2018 competition.
