BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Jordan Swing scored six of his career-high 24 points in overtime as Alabama-Birmingham rallied past Texas-El Paso 78-72 Wednesday night, snapping a six-game losing streak and posting its first Conference USA win of the season.
Swing hit the layup with 5 seconds left in regulation that tied it at 64 after the Blazers (9-12, 1-5) erased a 15-point, second-half deficit.
UAB used a 22-7 run, with Swing scoring eight and Rod Rucker seven, to make it 50-50 with 6:08 remaining in regulation, but could not take the lead until Fahro Alihodzic's layup opened overtime.
With the Blazers ahead 71-65, the Miners closed the gap to 71-70 on Jacques Streeter's three-point play with 2:13 remaining. Swing hit four straight free throws and Alihodzic added a layup with 20 seconds left, making it 77-72.
McKenzie Moore's 18 points led UTEP (11-8, 4-2), which had won five of its previous six games.
