FSU players to be suspended
December 14, 2007
By Brian Edwards VegasInsider.com
A ccording to a VegasInsider.com source, as many as a dozen Florida State players are going to be suspended for the Music City Bowl against Kentucky. An announcement is expected to come on Monday or Tuesday.
“It’s going to be at least a dozen players,” the source told VI. “From what I’ve been told, eight of the guys are key players, either starters or players that have started at some point.”
The suspensions are related to the academic scandal at FSU that was announced a few months ago. At that time, most of the suspensions were of athletes in different sports. However, the ongoing investigation has apparently discovered more involvement of football players than was originally suspected.
As of earlier today, Kentucky was listed as a two-point ‘chalk’ with a total of 56. However, after a phone call from yours truly, Las Vegas Sports Consultants took the game off the board at 6:00 p.m. Eastern.
Therefore, if your book still has UK up in the minus two range, you’d better go get it fast.
Kenny White, the President of LVSC, wouldn’t speculate on how much the number would move since the specific players have not officially been announced, but gamblers can be certain that this will move the number at least a few points, maybe more.
This could set up a hedge situation for bettors that are already in on the Wildcats laying less than a field goal.
We won’t list any specific players at this point, but the source did imply that FSU’s defense would be impacted the most by the suspensions.
