O ne day after inking the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class according to most experts on the subject, Florida head coach Urban Meyer was scheduled to go on vacation. Thing is, Meyer has a hard time getting away for these vacations.
On Thursday, his plan to get out of town and away from work went up in smoke. That’s because recently hired defensive coordinator George Edwards decided to leave UF to take the same job under Chan Gailey with the Buffalo Bills. Meyer had hired Edwards from the Dolphins less than a month ago.
According to a press release from UF, “interim” head coach Steve Addazio will be in charge of the search for the Gators’ new defensive coordinator. And if you believe that, I’ve got some ocean-front property to sell you in Missouri.
Edwards was set to replace former defensive coordinator Charlie Strong, who left Gainesville to take his first head-coaching job at Louisville.
