Betting on the Arkansas Razorbacks

The SEC is the preeminent conference for college football in the nation. As proud members, the Arkansas Razorbacks have earned their place in college football history. The Razorbacks have also attracted quite a bit of attention at legal sportsbooks all across the US.

Arkansas Razorbacks Team Overview

Arkansas University’s football program was started in 1906. The team played as an Independent before joining the Southwest Conference in 1915. A few of the other prominent football programs in this conference at the time included Oklahoma, Texas and Baylor.

The Razorbacks remained in the SWC all the way until 1992 when they accepted an invitation to join the Southeastern Conference which is better known as the SEC.

Football at Arkansas started to gain national prominence in the early 1960’s with Frank Broyles as head coach. His tenure with the team started in 1958 and it lasted all the way through the 1976 season.

Under Broyles’ guidance, Arkansas won the 1964 college football national title. That team went a perfect 11-0 and capped its amazing run with a victory in the Cotton Bowl. His teams were ranked nationally in 16 of his 19 seasons as head coach of the Razorbacks.

Broyles replacement in 1977 was another legendary college head football coach. Lou Holtz took over the reins in Arkansas that season and remained with the team through 1983.

After joining the SEC in 1992, Arkansas has enjoyed a high level of success playing in college football’s most competitive conference. The Razorbacks’ best season was in 2011 with a record of 11-2. Arkansas won the 2012 Cotton Bowl and its was ranked No. 5 in the final Associated Press Top 25.

With Sam Pittman as head coach, the Razorbacks went 9-4 in 2021 and capped the season off with a victory against Penn State in the Outback Bowl. Arkansas was No. 21 in the final AP Top 25.

Betting on the Razorbacks against the best the SEC has to offer has become a popular option. Often set as an underdog in its annual matchup against Alabama, this is normally the team’s biggest game of the year.

If the Razorbacks were 10-point underdogs against Alabama, they would win that wager with a straight-up victory or a loss by nine or fewer points.
