The Washington Mystics will head to the defending WNBA champion Chicago Sky for a Friday night showdown. Tip off is slated for 8 p.m. ET from Wintrust Arena. Coverage will be nationally televised on NBA TV. 

The Mystics beat the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference on Tuesday. Washington defeated the Las Vegas Aces 83-73. Natasha Cloud paced the Mystics with 16 points and nine assists. Shakira Austin tallied 15 points and eight rebounds. The Mystics shared the ball extremely well. Washington amassed 25 assists on their 31 converted field goals.

The Sky fell to the Dallas Wings 84-78 in their last outing. Kahleah Copper led the Sky with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Emma Meesseman, Allie Quigley, and Azura Stevens each had 14 points for the Sky. The Sky shot 28.6 percent from the three-point line on their 21 attempts. 

Prior to the action on Aug. 4, the Mystics (20-12) had the third-best record in the Eastern Conference. The Mystics are 11-5 at home and 9-7 on the road. The Mystics have the fourth-best point differential in the WNBA (+4.6). 

Before the games on Aug. 4, the Sky (23-8) had the best record in the WNBA. The Sky is 12-3 at home and 11-5 on the road. The Sky have the third-best point differential in the league (+5.6). 

Leading up to the contests on Aug. 4, the Mystics ranked sixth in field goal percentage (43.8) and eighth in points per game (79.8) and three-point percentage (34.4). Defensively, the stout Mystics rank first in defensive rating (94.8) and points in the paint (29.9), second in second chance points (9.2), and third in points off turnovers (14.2).

In her 22 games, Ella Delle Donne is averaging 17 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks. Cloud is tallying 11.1 points and leads the WNBA in assists per game (7.3). Ariel Atkins scored 14.9 points per game and is tops on the Mystics in steals (1.3). Austin grabs the most boards on the Mystics with 6.3 per game. 

The Sky leads the league in field goal percentage (47.7) while being second in points (85.7) and sixth in three-point percentage (34.6). Defensively, the Sky rank second in blocks (4.4), as well as fifth in defensive rating (98.3) and points off turnovers (15.5). 

The potent Sky offense has six players that average double digits in points. Copper leads the Sky with 15.5 points along with 6.1 rebounds. Future Hall of Fame member Candace Parker is second in points (13.4) and tops in rebounds (8.7). Courtney Vandersloot averages 11.4 points and a team-best 6.6 assists. Rebekah Gardner leads the Sky with 1.5 steals per game. Stevens leads the Sky with 1.1 blocks per game. 

The Sky beat the Mystics in two out of the three meetings so far this season. The Sky topped the host Mystics 82-73 on May 22. Then the teams split a home-and-away set on June 5 and June 8. Each team won at home in the set. 

The Mystics should use their stingy defense to defeat the Sky and split the season series.
