Angel Yin advances in US Girls' Junior

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Qualifying medalist Angel Yin won her first-round match Wednesday in the U.S. Girls' Junior, beating Julie Luo 4 and 2 at Forest Highlands.

The 15-year-old Yin, from Arcadia, California, birdied the par-5 14th for a 2-up lead and won the par-4 15th and 16th with pars to finish off Luo, from Centreville, Virginia.

Yin will face Bailey Tardy of Norcross, Georgia, on Thursday morning on the Meadow Course. Tardy beat Emma Albrecht of Ormond Beach, Florida, 5 and 4.

Mexico's Marijosse Navarro, second in stroke-play qualifying, beat Malia Nam of Kailua, Hawaii, 4 and 3. The 17-year-old Navarro, a three-time Women's Mexican Amateur champion, was sixth this year for Texas A&M in the NCAA tournament.

Andrea Lee holed out from 273 yards for a double eagle on the par-5 fifth hole in her 4-and-3 victory over Thailand's Chakansim Khamborn.

''I just wanted to get up somewhere on the green, maybe two-putt for birdie,'' said the 15-year-old Lee, from Hermosa Beach, California. ''I saw it disappear, but I thought it just trickled to the back. I heard (the gallery) screaming. It was crazy.''
