ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) - Interaction held off All Squared Away to win the $150,000 San Juan Capistrano Handicap by a nose on closing day at Santa Anita on Sunday.

Ridden by Joe Talamo, Interaction ran 1 3/4 miles on the turf in 2:44.89 and paid $10, $4.40 and $3.

``We had a perfect trip. The whole way around I was able to save a lot of ground,'' Talamo said. ``Turning for home I took him out and he gave me a huge effort the last eighth of a mile.''

All Squared Away returned $4.20 and $3.40, while Smart Ellis was another three lengths back in third and paid $3.60 to show.

It was the 701st career victory at Santa Anita for 80-year-old Hall of Fame trainer Ron McAnally, who won the race for the third time.

Bob Baffert won the training title for the third straight year with 38 victories over fellow Hall of Famer Jerry Hollendorfer, who had 35. Doug O'Neill was third with 34.

Rafael Bejarano won his fourth riding title at Santa Anita with 93 victories - 31 more than Edwin Maldonado.

The track's 76th winter-spring meet had a total handle of $19,897,306, a $2 million increase over last year.
