History

The NBA Finals is the pro basketball championship of the National Basketball Association. The game pits the winner of the two conferences, Eastern and Western. The NBA Finals starts in June as two teams square off in a best-of-seven series.

The Boston Celtics have won 17 championships, which is the most in NBA history. The franchise won eight consecutive titles from 1959 through 1966. The Los Angeles Lakers have captured the title 16 times and they are the last team to win back-to-back championships, completing the feat in the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Chicago (6) and San Antonio (4) are the two franchises that have won four or more championships.

The Miami Heat won the 2013 NBA Finals, which was their second consecutive championship and third in franchise history. The Heat will look to become the first team to win three straight titles since the Los Angeles Lakers accomplished the feat between the 2000 and 2002 seasons.
