Hurricanes vs. Rangers Free Pick
The Rangers apparently haven't convinced everyone that they're a team to watch for the Stanley Cup, as even after five straight wins to begin the postseason, they're made an underdog (albeit slight) in tonight's Game 2.
The "NHL zig-zag" didn't always work in Round One, and not at all in the Rangers-Caps series which NY won in a sweep, as Peter Laviolette continues to get very balanced scoring (ten different Rangers have scored goals thus far in the playoffs, led by Vincent Trocheck's four, while Mike Zibanejad in on ten points already.
Note Canes goalies Frederik Andersen seems to be wobbling a bit (only 72 saves out of 82 shots faced across the past three games) after coming out like gangbusters when he returned from injury in early March.
Avalanche vs. Stars Free Pick
This series should be wide open as both Dallas and Colorado have weapons that can attack the opposition from many different angles.
Colorado disposed of Winnipeg in a series that was a crazy back and forth one in terms of goals being scored.
We saw games in that series hit as high as 13 and Colorado is going to keep that same offensive firepower here against Dallas.
The Stars are also going to open things up. While their series with Vegas was an absolute grind, you can't forget how good this team was offensively during the regular season. They averaged 3.59 gpg and their attack was one of the tops in the NHL.
This will be a high energy and fast paced Game 1 that will feature many scoring chances both ways.
With that, plenty of goals should come as this game will be wide open. We're getting a good number on this total in a high energy game.
