Odds per BetOnline.ag
Yancy Medeiros +126 over Donald Cerrone -146
Yancy might be the future of this division, and to find out he’ll have to pave his way through Donald Cerrone. Unfortunately for Cowboy, his three losses have put him on a bad path and the only reason he’s favored is because he’s the bigger name. Yancy is younger and far more violent. I hope that Cerrone can put a win together somehow, but I think his days are done. Rooting for Cerrone, a great company man, but the better bet is on Yancy to knock him out.
Derrick Lewis +121 over Marcin Tybura -141
This is a sentimental pick because Derrick Lewis is just so goddamn loveable. His last fight against Mark Hunt was unfortunate and a result of a back injury that also reduced him out of a matchup with Fabricio Werdum which was supposed to take place at UFC 216. Tybura is probably healthier, but if Lewis’s back isn’t an issue anymore then he’s hands down the better fighter. This is a gamble on Lewis for sure, and Tybura is not to be trifled with, but I can’t turn my back on The Black Beast.
Curtis Millender +140 over Thiago Alves -160
Millender has simply been on a rampage lately, and Alves is the perfect stepping stone to thrust him in to the proper spotlight. Alves is coming off a great win over Patrick Cote, but is running right in to a 30 year old opponent who has completed an incredible six-fight winning streak. This is the UFC debut of Millender who will make a name for himself immediately. A stiff challenge with Alves isn’t going to be easy, but Millender has the goods to get the job done.
James Vick -230 over Francisco Trinaldo +195
If you’re looking for a true lightweight competitor to kick the tires of, then James Vick is it. At 12-1, the 30 year old fighter has registered early finishes by knockout and submission in three of his last five victories. Trinaldo is more of a workhorse than a finisher and will simply open himself up to one of Vick’s many weapons. In short, Vick’s number here reflects his talent appropriately. Follow the lead of the oddsmakers no matter how much it costs you to make an acceptable profit.
Sage Northcutt -300 over Thibault Gouti +250
The pretty boy himself opens up UFC Fight Night 126, and if you love betting against him because of personal reasons then go for it. But his odds are what they are for good reason, and despite what you may think of Northcutt, he’s being groomed to become something notable in the UFC. That means that White is lining up tests for him that the kid can ace. Gouti is just another stop on the road to Northcutt maturing in to an actual contender. Take a flier on Gouti if you feel like it and don’t like Northcutt but don’t overspend on either.
