MALIBU, Calif. (AP) - David Hanson scored a career-high 28 points, including six 3-pointers, as part of Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo's 70-64 win over Pepperdine on Tuesday night.
The Mustangs (4-7) began with a 12-0 run and never trailed, snapping a four-game losing streak.
Hanson scored 18 of his points in the second half and Cal Poly shot 47.8 percent from the field in the period.
The Waves (5-9) pulled within four points with four seconds left on a pair of free throws by Taylor Darby, but Cal Poly's Shawn Lewis made two of his own after that to guarantee the win.
Lewis finished with 19 points, including sinking 15 of 19 free throws. Will Donahue chipped in with 10 points for the Mustangs.
Mychel Thompson led Pepperdine with 24 points while Keion Bell added 11.
