FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Frank Gaines scored 19 points and IPFW came back from nine points down in the second half to defeat Centenary 76-66 on Thursday night, keeping the Gentlemen the only winless team in Division I.
Centenary (0-22, 0-10 Summit) had taken a 41-32 lead on Maxx Nakwaasah's jumper with 18:08 remaining. But the Mastodons (13-7, 7-3) reeled off a 9-0 run to tie it at 41. Nakwaasah had a team-high 18 points.
Centenary's last lead came at 51-50 with 8:58 remaining. In its next possession, IPFW went ahead for good on a jumper by Gaines. Leading 61-57, IPFW pulled away in the final minutes, with Antwaun Boyd hitting a jumper and 3-pointer to lead the way.
Centenary's losing streak reached 27 games. Its last win came on Feb. 6, 2010, against IPFW.
