PHOENIX (AP) - Shaun Marcum second spring start was much better than his first.

Marcum allowed two hits in three scoreless innings in the Milwaukee Brewers' 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday afternoon.

``I got away with a couple of pitches but for the most part everything felt good with location,' Marcum said. ``I did a pretty good job of locating.'

In his first outing on Monday, Marcum threw only fastballs and changeups and gave up two runs on four hits.

Against the Angels he had an extra pitch at his disposal.

``I decided in the bullpen that I was going to work that cutter in,' said Marcum, who estimated about a quarter of his 40-plus pitches were cut fastballs.

``When he misses he just misses, Brewers shortstop Craig Counsell said. ``He really tempts the hitter. He's real good.'

Prince Fielder ended an 0 for 7 start to his spring with a two-run homer and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Los Angeles Angels 2-1 Saturday afternoon.

Fielder had been scheduled to take the day off, but asked Brewers manager Ron Roenicke to be the designated hitter to get extra at_bats.

After grounding out against Joel Piniero to end the first inning, Fielder hit a line drive just to the left of the center-field batters' eye off Kevin Jepsen.

Piniero, also making his second start, was as sharp as Marcum, allowing two hits in three innings. Piniero hasn't allowed a run in five innings this spring.

``I had a good bullpen and was concentrating on keeping the sinker down,' Piniero said. ``I got a lot of balls on the ground. It was just a matter of commanding the zone.'
