PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) - Mariners catcher Miguel Olivo strained his groin in Seattle's 7-2 win over the split squad Cleveland Indians on Saturday.

He is scheduled for an MRI. There was no timetable for his return.

Olivo was running lightly down the third-base line on a sacrifice fly when he pulled up and fell down on his stomach near home plate. He managed to reach out and touch the plate to score.

``You always hate to see that. Whatever the best case scenario is, that's what we'll hope for,' Seattle manager Eric Wedge said. ``We'll just take it day-to-day, continue to get him looked at and see where we're at.'

Olivo, 32, signed as a free agent in January and was brought in to take over the brunt of catching duties for a relatively young Mariners pitching staff.

Seattle's Franklin Gutierrez doubled and drove in three runs against his former team.

Left-hander Erik Bedard pitched two scoreless innings in his second start of the spring for the Mariners and struck out the side in the first.

``I feel fine, just trying to throw strikes,' said Bedard, who didn't pitch a major league game in 2010 while recovering from left shoulder surgery. ``Getting my arm ready for the season. At this point just trying to get some stamina going and throw more innings.'

Jeanmar Gomez allowed four runs on four hits in 2 1-3 innings in his first start for Cleveland. He is a candidate for the back end of the Indians' rotation.

Shelley Duncan, a key Indians backup who missed six spring games while dealing with a back injury, debuted at first base and went 1 for 3.

Notes: Indians RHP Carlos Carrasco was scheduled to start game against Seattle, but was replaced by Gomez because he left the team to be with his wife in Florida for the birth of the couple's first child. ... Mariners INF Jack Wilson was scratched from the starting lineup due to illness and was replaced by Sean Kazmar at second base.
