The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to be Super Bowl contenders in 2018, as they have the second-highest season win total at BetDSI.
The Steelers went 13-3 last season and oddsmakers believe that Pittsburgh should be very good again this year.
Pittsburgh will need to get off to a good start because they face a very difficult closing stretch of games, as they play six of their last nine games on the road, including trips to Baltimore, Jacksonville, Denver, Oakland and New Orleans. They also host New England in a big revenge game in Week 15.
2018 Pittsburgh Steelers Win Total- per BetDSI
Over 10.5 (-114)
Under 10.5 (-116)
The Steelers will need to win at least 11 games to go over this total. On paper, the Steelers are tied for the fifth-easiest schedule in the NFL for 2018. It helps that they play in a weak division against Cleveland, Cincinnati and Baltimore. The Browns should be improved, but the Bengals and Ravens don’t appear to be any better. The key for Pittsburgh is staying healthy, as they don’t have ready replacements for Roethlisberger, Brown or Bell.
2018 Pittsburgh Steelers Schedule Analysis
Sunday, Sept. 9, at Cleveland Browns, 1:00 p.m. ET
The Browns should be improved, but it is hard to see them winning right away. The Steelers have won 9 of the last 10 in this series against Cleveland and they are favored to win this one.
Sunday, Sept. 16, vs. Kansas City Chiefs, 1:00 p.m. ET
The Chiefs are going to have a different look with Patrick Mahomes under center. If this game was at Arrowhead then perhaps the Chiefs could come out with a win, but it is in Pittsburgh and the Steelers should win.
Monday, Sept. 24, at Tampa Bay Bucs, 8:15 p.m. ET
This is not a sure win for the Steelers, as the Bucs will be fired up to play on Monday Night Football. The Steelers almost always struggle against Florida teams, as they are 2-5 since 2013 against the Bucs, Dolphins and Jaguars.
Sunday, Sept. 30, vs. Baltimore Ravens, 8:20 p.m. ET
The Ravens have lost the last three games to the Steelers and it should be four straight after this Sunday night contest on NBC.
Sunday, Oct. 7, vs. Atlanta Falcons, 1:00 p.m. ET
This will be a high scoring game and one that would be better suited to prime time. The Steelers usually do well in high scoring games and they should win this shootout.
Sunday, Oct. 14, at Cincinnati Bengals, 1:00 p.m. ET
The Steelers almost always win at Paul Brown Stadium, as they have won eight of the last nine. Why will this one be any different?
Week 7: BYE
Sunday, Oct. 28, vs. Cleveland Browns, 1:00 p.m. ET
The Steelers have not lost at home to the Browns since 2003. This should be another Pittsburgh win.
Sunday, Nov. 4, at Baltimore Ravens, 1:00 p.m. ET
The Ravens normally play very well at home and they will be looking to end a long losing streak in this series. This could be a road loss for Pittsburgh.
Thursday, Nov. 8, vs. Carolina Panthers, 8:20 p.m. ET
The Panthers are 1-5 all-time against the Steelers and it is hard to see them getting the road win in this Thursday night contest.
Sunday, Nov. 18, at Jacksonville Jaguars, 8:20 p.m. ET
This is a revenge game for the Steelers, as they were beaten by the Jaguars twice last season. Many people will be picking the Steelers in this game, but it could be that Jacksonville’s defense simply has Roethlisberger’s number.
Sunday, Nov. 25, at Denver Broncos, 4:25 p.m. ET
The Broncos have an excellent defense and they should be much improved on offense with Case Keenum under center. This could be another road loss for Pittsburgh.
Sunday, Dec. 2, vs. Los Angeles Chargers, 1:00 p.m. ET
The Chargers rarely win big games on the road and the Steelers will need to win this game to stay in contention for the top seed in the AFC.
Sunday, Dec. 9, at Oakland Raiders, 8:20 p.m. ET
The Steelers are normally very good in prime time games, as they entered this season having won seven straight prime time games. The Steelers may be able to get the road win over Gruden’s squad.
Sunday, Dec. 16, vs. New England Patriots, 4:25 p.m. ET
This is a big revenge game for the Steelers and they get to play this one at home. Pittsburgh should get their revenge.
Sunday, Dec. 23, at New Orleans Saints, 4:25 p.m. ET
This is a terrible spot for Pittsburgh going on the road to face a very good New Orleans team. The Steelers are coming off one of the biggest games of the season and now they have to travel. The Saints should win this one.
Sunday, Dec. 30, vs. Cincinnati Bengals, 1:00 p.m. ET
The Steelers may need to win this home game to clinch home field in the first round of the playoffs. The Steelers should close out the regular season with a win.
Can the Steelers win 11 games to go over their total of 10.5? Looking at the schedule it could come down to the regular season finale against the Bengals. If everyone stays healthy, and that is a big if, the Steelers should win 11 games and go over this total.
