Edmonton Oilers at Nashville Predators Betting Odds Overview

The Oilers enter play with five victories in the past six tries against Central Division teams. However, they haven't really been able to string together many victories, going 7-15 in the past 22 games following a win. For Nashville, they're a dismal 2-6 in the past eight attempts against the Pacific Division, although they're 5-2 in the past seven at Bridgestone, while also going 5-2 in the past seven as a home favorite. Nashville also has a good case of the Mondays, too, as they're 40-12 in the past 52 appearances on the first day of the week.

Edmonton Oilers Current Form

While the Oilers have posted an impressive 2-0-0 record against the Predators this season, they're still a dismal 3-14 in the past 17 meetings overall, and 7-19-1 in the previous 27 trips to the Music City.

Nashville Predators Current Form

The Predators have the trends on their side, at least in this series over the past few years. In addition to dominating the Oilers, the favorite has connected in 13 of the previous 17 in this series, so the arrow points to Nashville in that respect, too.

Oilers to Watch

As expected, it usually starts and stops with C Connor McDavid. Since returning from a lower-body injury he has been on fire. McDavid has a goal with seven assists and 17 shots on goal (SOG) across the past four outings while also netting a game winner. His partner in crime, C Leon Draisaitl, racked up three points in a Leap Day victory against the Winnipeg Jets. Across the past 18 games he has rolled up 14 goals with 32 points and a plus-5 rating with seven power-play goals and three winners while posting 65 SOG.

C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has provided plenty of secondary offense, posting four goals with eight points and a plus-2 rating with a game-winning tally and 18 SOG in the past five contests. C Riley Sheahan hasn't been as fortunate, going scoreless in each of the past three with a minus-3 rating and just one shot. D Ethan Bear is in the same boat, going scoreless with a minus-3 rating across the past four, while D Darnell Nurse has been blanked with a minus-5 rating across the past six outings. LW Alex Chiasson has no points and a minus-3 over his past nine, too.

Predators to Watch

Ryan Ellis has been red-hot for the Preds, posting five assists with a plus-1 rating in the previous two outings. Fellow rearguard Roman Josi has a goal and two helpers with 11 SOG in the past two games to help buoy the offense. F Colin Blackwell has also emerged as an effective option up front, going for a goal, four assists and a plus-2 rating in the past five outings with eight SOG.

On the flip side, C Matt Duchene has stumbled with just one helper across the past six outings, or just 0.17 points per game. C Nick Bonino was hot earlier in the season, but he has been ice-cold with no points, a minus-1 rating and two shots on goal across the past four. LW Rocco Grimaldi has also been held off the scoresheet in the past four with a minus-2 rating and four SOG. C Craig Smith has been held off the board in six in a row while posting a minus-2 rating.

Edmonton Oilers at Nashville Predators Selection Summary

The Oilers won against Winnipeg at home on Saturday. However, they are 2-2-2 across the past six, and they're just 6-5-2 over the previous 13 outings. They're 3-1-1 in the past five games on the road, however. The Predators had rattled off three straight wins on home ice before falling to Central Division rival Colorado by a 3-2 score on Saturday behind Saros. Nashville's offense has been just so-so, ranking 14th in the NHL with 3.2 goals per game. Their power play has struggled, going 16.5 percent or 25th in the league, while they're also terrible on the penalty kill at 74.1 percent, or second-to-last in the NHL. That might be the difference here, as Edmonton ranks No. 1 on the power play at 28.6 percent, and No. 2 on the penalty kill at 84.1 percent.
