Thrashers’ odds take a hit after Heatley trade
Sportsbook.com updates odds following blockbuster deal with Ottawa
(Atlanta, GA), Aug 24, 2005 – Sportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino, has updated the Atlanta Thrashers’ odds on winning the Stanley Cup following yesterday’s trade of Danny Heatley to the Ottawa Senators for Marion Hossa. Atlanta’s odds took a slight hit, going from a 25-1 favorite to win the Stanley Cup to a 28-1 pick.
Ottawa’s odds, on the other hand, have improved to 10-1 from an opening line of 12-1.
"Atlanta got a very good player in return for Heatley but he’s not as well known to fans, so bettors are unsure of what to make of the Thrasher’s chances," says Peter Childs, Odds maker, Sportsbook.com. "Hossa is a very talented, offensive player and he should fit in well with the current line-up."
Sportsbook.com is also offering odds on who will win the Eastern Conference. Atlanta has gone from 12-1 to 14-1. The favorite to win the Stanley Cup is Philadelphia at 5-1, followed by Detroit at 8-1 and then Ottawa.
