Memorial to mark Hillsborough anniversary

LIVERPOOL, England (AP) - About 30,000 people, including Liverpool players past and present, are expected to attend a memorial service at Anfield marking the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough Stadium disaster that killed 96 Liverpool fans.

Brendan Rodgers and Roberto Martinez, the managers of Liverpool and Everton, will deliver readings as Merseyside unites to remember those who died in Britain's worst sports tragedy.

Bells from churches across the region will ring 96 times and public transport is expected to stop during a minute's silence at 3:06 p.m. - the time the FA Cup semifinal match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest was cut short following a crush in a standing-only section of Hillsborough.

Scarves from soccer clubs around the world will be laid out at Anfield in the shape of ''96.''
