This non-conference event began in 1999 and the ACC owns a 10-3-1 record in the 14 years of its existence. However the Big Ten has the momentum, winning and 2010 (6-5) and 2011 (8-4). Last year the two conferences went 6-6 against one another in the 12 games.

That trio finished at the bottom of the ACC standings last season. Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse joined the ACC this season and will be making their debuts in the event, taking the place of the aforementioned schools.
