We start off another week at the Big A and the track is listed as sloppy as rains fell most of the day yesterday and into last night.
Embattled trainer Rick Dutrow has one horse entered on Wednesday, and the New York Attorney General’s office officials said that Dutrow’s 10-year suspension would go into effect on Thursday.
Last October the New York State Racing and Wagering Board suspended the trainer for 10 years and assessed him a $50,000 fine for multiple violations.
Last week the New York Court of Appeals refused to hear his appeal for the second time, leading to the ban to go into effect.
Dutrow has one last shot and he is taking it today, seeking an injunction in federal court. If that effort fails his horses entered for later this week will be scratched and the horses will have to be moved to other trainers.
Dutrow has managed to continue to train since the original suspension was handed down, and in that 15 months has won nearly 200 races and $8 million in purses.
The gravy train may be ready to end tomorrow.

Here is today’s opening from Aqueduct to get the day off to a good start:
Analysis: Appealetta was outrun early last out after getting bumped hard at the break and managed to make a mild late rally to finish sixth, beaten four lengths for the top spot. The filly caught a racing strip that was kind to inside speed that day. The winner Aliraven came back restricted $20,000 claimers in her next outing on Jan. 9. Two back going a mile against state bred Alw-1 optional claimers she was up on the pace before tiring to finish sixth. With a better break she will be right in the mix and she is bred top and bottom to handle an off track.
Granby Girl cuts back from a miler here where the filly made a mild late run to finish third. She broke her maiden at today's six furlong distance on the inner track back last February. She has landed in the exacta in three of five trips on the inner track and has a decent enough off track pedigree.
WIN: #1 to win at 8-5 or better.
EX: 1,3 / 1,3,4,6
TRI: 1,3 / 1,3,4,6 / 1,2,3,4,6
Analysis: Daddy's Wildcat makes his first start since August where the gelding dueled for the early lead and weakened to finish fifth at Monmouth Park against $10,000 non-winners of two. The runner up in that race was Printing Press, who came back to win two of his next three starts. The gelding owns solid early and mid pace numbers and is bred to like a wet track. The Galluscio barn is 20% winners with runners coming back off a 61-180 day layoff.
Comstock Prize was a good looking maiden winner last out for a $20,000 tag and earned the top last out speed fig in the effort. It was his first trip on the inner track and the track came up wet that day. He gets a jock upgrade form the five pound bug to Ramon. This looks like a good spot for his first go against winners.
WIN: #5 to win at 2-1 or better.
EX: 5,9 / 2,5,8,9
TRI: 5,9 / 2,5,8,9 / 2,5,7,8,9
These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager.
