Flashover takes Hollywood Park opening feature

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) -Flashover rallied to win the $46,000 feature race Friday night as Hollywood Park's autumn meeting opened.
Ridden by Joe Talamo, the 4-year-old Flashover sat in the middle of the field for most of the turf mile for fillies and mares, then passed Made for Magic in the final yards to win by a half-length in 1:35.51.
Flashover paid $6.40, $3 and $2.10, and Made for Magic returned $3.80 and $2.40.
Heavy favorite Firey Red was last for most of the race and had to rally for third. She paid $2.10 to show.
A daughter of Unusual Heat trained and partly owned by Barry Abrams, Flashover has won six times in 14 career starts. She earned $35,880 to take her lifetime bankroll to $241,650.
