T here will be plenty to be thankful for this holiday weekend at the Big A, with six graded stakes races between Thursday and Saturday.
Thursday’s feature is the $100,000 $100,000 Fall Highweight Handicap (G3), a six furlong sprint that drew a field of ten runners, including multiple stakes winners Ah Day, Go Go Shoot, and Cherokee Country.
Friday’s feature is the Grade 2, $150,000 Top Flight Handicap for filly and mare sprinters.
Saturday’s highlight will be the $300,000 Hill ‘n’ Dale Cigar Mile (G1), which will draw a stellar field of older runners.
Among those being considered for the race include Quality Road, Munnings, Kodiak Kowboy, Driven by Success, Vineyard Haven, and Pyro.
Also on Saturday’s card is the $300,000 Gazelle (G1), which looks like it will draw a field of six or seven.
Among those pointed for the Gazelle include Flashing, Me Love, Multipass, Stardom Bound, Sweet and Flawless, Justwhistledixie, Milwaukee Appeal and Peach Brew.
I plan to keep my intake of Tryptophan to a minimum in the next few days, and while many of you will have a four day weekend, I’ll be working right through Sunday.
Don’t worry about me, I’ll take Monday off.

Here is today's opening race from Aqueduct to get our day off to a good start:
AQU Race 1 Clm $12,500 (12:30 ET) #5 Crazy Thing 15/1 #2 Boss Tiffany / #2b Only a Vision 6/5 #3 Tiffany Rock 6/1 #4 O'Sotopretty 2/1
Analysis: #5 Crazy Thing did not fire last out in a fifth place finish behind a couple of these for a $16K tag. The mare was making her first start for the low profile Russo barn that has just one win on the year. Two back while in the Steve Jerkens barn this gal was a game third, beaten just a half length by the winner #2b Only a Vision, who figures to go off here around even money. The mare gets in light with the seven pound bug and let's hope the barn learned something about this mare and she bounces back with a better effort. Her numbers two and four back put her in the mix and she figures to be a generous price here.
#2b Only a Vision had a three race win streak snapped last out when she ran second against $16K claimers, four lengths clear of the rest of the field. She owns a solid pace profile throughout and has a win and a second in three trips over the main track. Her entrymate #2 Boss Tiffany also has Rosie listed to ride so only one will go. She won her first three trips over the main track but came up short late last out in a fourth place finish for a $35K tag. This is the cheapest the barn has run her since claiming her for $30K back in January. Either half of the entry looks like a standout in here.
Wagering WIN: #5 to win at 8/1 or better. EX: 2,5 / 2,3,4,5 TRI: 2,5 / 2,3,4,5 / 2,3,4,5,6
Today's Featured Race of the Day from Aqueduct:
U>AQU Race 8 Alw $45,000N1X (3:44 ET) #4 Wind Caper 4/1 #3 Sheikh's Serenade 5/2 #6 Qualia 7/2 #1 Wicked Beauty / #1a Kissa Melissa 2/1
Analysis: #4 Wind Caper has not been seen since April on the left coast where the filly was sixth against Alw-1 optional claimers going 6 1/2 downhill on the turf course. Two runners came out of that race to win next out. No telling how good this gal might be, she has only raced on the fake stuff and the weeds. She lands with the red hot Hushion barn that has won with 7 of 14 starters at the meeting and is 33% winners (with a +ROI) overall with newcomers to the barn.
#3 Sheikh's Serenade is also returning off a long layoff, her last start coming a year ago when she broke her maiden in her third career start. She has quit the pedigree, out of the stakes winner Desert Stormer ($862K) who has produced six winners including stakes winner Sahara Gold ($249K). Her recent works include a bullet drill on Nov. 9.
Wagering WIN: #4 to win at 3/1 or better. EX: 3,4 / 1,3,4,6 TRI: 3,4 / 1,3,4,6 / 1,2,3,4,6
Live Longshots: These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager.
Aqueduct R1: #5 Crazy Thing 15/1 R4: #9 Rousing Kitty 12/1 R4: #2 Kim Karakorum / #2b Bella Karakorum 8/1 R5: #8 Awesome Mich 12/1 R6: #10 I’m Hooked Up 15/1 R9: #7 Sea Road 8/1
Good luck today!
