Three more winners in seven races (two were washed off the turf) and we turned another profit with my top picks in the second day of the inner dirt meeting at the Big A.
I managed to get through today’s card despite spiking a 100.5 temperature yesterday, the flu bug hitting me squarely between the eyes.
Thankfully there are no drug tests for handicappers, and I do some of my best work with Thera-Flu in my system.
In fact I consider it a performing enhancing drug.
I plan on a long nap and I expect to be fully recovered for a good weekend of racing at the Big A.

Here is today's opening race from Aqueduct to get our day off to a good start:
AQU Race 1 Alw $43,000N1X (12:30 et)
#3 Temore 8/1
#4 William Thomas 3/1
#6 Golden Boychick 2/1
#1 Mighty Morris 12/1
Analysis: #3 Temore is back at the Alw-1 level after getting outrun last out in the Thunder Rumble in the mud going seven furlongs. This guy has a couple of decent efforts at this condition, checking in third twice and fourth once earlier this year, catching off tracks in each of those outings. Now the gelding likely catches a fast track, adds blinkers, and gets a jock upgrade from Studart to Rosie. The gelding showed some early zip on the inner early this year and with the blinkers added should be closer to the pace here. He should get overlooked on the tote and could pull off the upset if he runs his best.
#4 William Thomas is 0 for 5 at today's condition but he caught off tracks in each of those outings. The colt owns solid early and mid pace numbers and Ramon figures to send him early. His last go on a fast main track produced his maiden score. If he shakes loose early he figures to be tough to catch.
Wagering

Today's Featured Race of the Day from Aqueduct:
AQU Race 8 Alw $44,000N1X (3:44 et)
#5 Whirlwind Poppy 5/2
#6 Star of New York 2/1
#7 Joey's Chance 12/1
#3 Jimmy Vegas 5/1
Analysis: #5 Whirlwind Poppy faded to finish 12th and last on the grass last out and returns to the main track. Two back at Belmont Park the colt set the early fractions and weakened to finish fourth in his first go against winners. The colt broke his maiden in the slop and at least pedigree wise seems better suited for the main track. The Maker barn is 29% winners moving runners from turf to dirt.
#6 Star of New York took eight tries to earn his diploma and then ran solid seconds in his first two tries at today's level. He had to steady when caught in traffic at the quarter pole and finished up well when angled to the outside. HIs last three figs are a good fit here and this guy catches a soft looking group of state breds here.

Live Longshots:
These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager.
