At the Gate - Wednesday

T he only thing that could stop our 2010 money making machine was Mother Nature, who knocked out racing at Aqueduct on Sunday with freezing temperatures and high winds.
We were on a roll, the first two days of the new year producing a total of eight winners on top in 18 races and a +133% +ROI with my top picks.
Toss in nine recommended exactas in those 18 races, and we have been very busy cashing tickets.
Let’s hope we can keep it going today, and I don’t go frigid, like the temperatures are here in Florida.
We are going to be below freezing the next three nights including a night in the teens and a slight chance we might see some snow.
It might be warmer on the backstretch at Aqueduct.
I’m just going to hunker down in the den with my fireplace and wagering account to keep me warm.
If I can figure out a way to trick my wife into going to the mailbox, I won’t have to leave the house until Friday.
There is plenty of money to be made at the Big A today.

Here is today's opening race from Aqueduct to get our day off to a good start:
AQU Race 1 Alw $60,000s (12:30 ET) #8 Cheers Darling 3/1 #7 Brave as a Lion 15/1 #4 Fuzzy Britches 6/5 #1 Legendary Stacey 5/1
Analysis: #8 Cheers Darling prompted the early pace, took over around the far turn and finished well under hand urging to break her maiden in her debut over a good sealed track here on Dec. 13. She warned solid early and mid pace numbers and might be able to shake loose early here. It is interesting that Rosie departs to ride for Dickie Small.
#7 Brave as a Lion is the Small runner Rosie lands on and should be a decent price here. The filly broke her maiden last out in her fourth career start at Laurel Park. She has a nice pedigree, by Lion Heart out of the stakes winner Smartly ($172K) who has dropped four winners, top earner Roaring Lion ($320K). Worth tossing in the mix here if we see most of the 15/1 ML.
Wagering WIN: #8 to win at 5/2 or better. EX: 7,8 / 1,4,7,8 TRI: 7,8 / 1,4,7,8 / 1,4,6,7,8
Today's Featured Race of the Day from Aqueduct:
AQU Race 8 Alw $41,000N1X (3:49 ET) #6 Primed to Be Ready 4/1 #5 Embrace Change 8/5 #1 Screen Saviour / #1a Sugar Trade 3/1 #2 Sky Fever 12/1
Analysis: #6 Primed to Be Ready drops out of the state bred East View where she showed some early zip and faded to finish a well beaten seventh. She showed some promise with a gate to wire score in her debut two back going six furlongs. Perhaps she was not ready for stakes company or did not like the wet track, but I'll give her another look here as Contessa is pretty high on this filly and this looks like a good spot.
#5 Embrace Change was second and third in a pair of stakes and then earned her diploma last out when returning to the maiden special ranks, drawing clear to win by 8 1/2 lengths in a good looking effort. Her speed fig came up on the light side considering the winning margin, but she looks capable of running faster and is a logical exacta threat here as the likely favorite.
Wagering WIN: #6 to win at 3/1 or better. EX: 5,6 / 1,2,5,6 TRI: 5,6 / 1,2,5,6 / 1,2,5,6,8
Live Longshots: These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager.
Aqueduct R1: #7 Brave as a Lion 15/1 R4: #6 Silver City Dreams 8/1 R5: #6 Dana’s Bell 8/1 R6: #6 Cathy’s Rascal 8/1 R7: #9 Ravenous 8/1 R8: #2 Sky Fever 12/1
Good luck today!
